Slow-motion hooning set to Maxence Cyrin makes us misty eyed

A YouTube user with the handle RacingInSlowMotion is quite skilled at stringing together motorsports footage that’s been slowed to a downright sultry crawl. Seeing some of our favorite machines reduced to a snail’s pace is beautiful. One piece that is missing, however, is the sound. Glorious exhaust notes and squealing tires are music to any hoon’s ear. Slow the machines down though, and you need to replace that sound with actual music.
Blake Z. Rong (you remember that guy, right?) sent me a link to pianist Maxence Cyrin covering Where Is My Mind by the Pixies. Yes, we’re talking about “that Fight Club song”. Click past the break to see how it stacks up against footage of racing in slow motion.
(Here’s a hint, it’s f%*king beautiful, and if Blake Z. is Rong – we don’t want to be right)

It's a magnificent composition, fabulously assembled, but I couldn't help but think a voiceover at the end was going to try and sell me life insurance,

I love that song but I'm not digging the piano version.

That was quite possibly one of the best youtube videos I've seen in a long time. It was just excellent.

Tangent: One of the perfect moments of song and event happening once happened to me with the original version of that song. Driving home at 3 am in the middle of winter, there was a big pack of deer wandering through the town. The light, the speed I was travelling, the deer being out of place plus the cold and the song all worked together to make a seemingly inconsequential event have unexpected impact, so much so that I still remember it, while the other drives at 3am have faded into the ether.

Great video, perfect music… But slow motion demands long shots, not 2 seconds between fadeouts. It's jaring and the whole thing fails to "flow" properly.

Does Blake have a girlfriend? 'Cause it's got to be a bummer to be LITERALLY Mr. Rong.

I think he just moved, with all of his things, cross country in a Miata soooo… I'd guess no, as it couldn't even fit a quarter of most women's shoe allotment.
